Wendy Maruyama, my former wood design professor of mine and a local artist in San Diego, is having her exhibition opening this coming Friday February the 10th. It is about the Japanese-American internment camps and remembering them. It is quite a sight to see. She wrote every name of the ones who perished and survivors from that time in history. She also brings up the issue of how this event isn't really talked about in our history classes as much, compared to the history we are given about the holocaust and such. The work is very heartfelt and so is her interview. The mere size and collaboration of all sorts of people that went into this tag project is just incredible. Just such a beautiful project which has inspired me greatly.
